[0:00] For a short time as we are able, we may consider words in the chapter read. The book of Revelation chapter 22, reading at verse 17.
[0:13] The book of Revelation chapter 22, reading verse 17. And the Spirit and the Bride say, Come.
[0:24] And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is our first come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
[0:40] And very often in the word of God, the blessings of the gospel are represented to us under the emblem of the water of life.
[1:02] And this is a very solemn page. The last page in the Bible.
[1:15] And the Bible has not closed without this wonderful invitation to those who are without Christ and without hope in the world.
[1:29] Now in every age, there is a diversity of results under the message of the gospel.
[1:41] This was true concerning the preaching of the Lord himself. During the days of his humiliation, how often our Lord invited sinners to come and follow him.
[2:02] And there were those who are without the gospel. And there were those who responded to the invitation. And there were those who rejected him.
[2:13] And in the days of the apostle Paul, this was also true. Some believed the things which were spoken.
[2:25] And some believed not. And so it is in every age. The gospel is a saver of life unto life.
[2:37] Or a saver of death unto death. And there are those who are almost persuaded to be Christians.
[2:50] And perhaps we have said in this large congregation tonight, and tell us that to be almost Christians.
[3:01] To be almost in the ark. To be almost in the city of refuge. To be almost in the kingdom of God. To be almost in glory.
[3:13] And tell us that if we depart from this world, and we are only almost Christians. There are others under the invitation of the gospel.
[3:27] And they think they will send for the Lord at a more convenient season. And perhaps that more convenient season will never come.
[3:40] There are those who tremble under the gospel. And there are those who make so many excuses for not following the Lord.
[3:51] And the Bible has not closed them without this wonderful and wide invitation to those who are without Christ.
[4:04] And without hope in the world. You have the fullness and blessing of the gospel in this invitation.
[4:14] Now as water is absolutely necessary from day to day. As we go about our daily tasks.
[4:27] It is an absolute necessity. That is why the women of Samaria was found at the well. It was a necessity from day to day.
[4:39] That is why many of us remember going to the well each day for water. That it is an absolute necessity.
[4:51] And if we are going to enjoy the blessings of salvation, then the water of life is an absolute necessity.
[5:04] And the spirit and the bride say come. Now you remember the solemn truth which says, My spirit shall not always strive with mine.
[5:20] And this is the work of God's Holy Spirit to manifest to us ourselves and also the Lord.
[5:31] And it goes on in every generation. And the spirit is saying come. In the sound of the gospel this evening.
[5:42] In the sovereignty of God in his providence and in his grace. You are under the sound of the gospel this evening.
[5:53] And the message is that yet there is room. And each one of us should remember this evening. That yet there is room in the cemeteries for us all.
[6:08] That yet there is room in our lost eternity. That there is room this evening under the sound of the gospel.
[6:19] And the spirit of God and the church of Christ are saying come. The spirit and the bride say come.
[6:30] The desire of the church in a state of grace. The desire of the church in a state of glory. Saying come.
[6:41] This is an absolute necessity then. We are going to experience the joy of salvation. And water also is necessary because of its cleansing virtue.
[6:59] And this is the cry of those who have been awakened by the spirit of God. Create in me a green heart and renew our right spirit within.
[7:13] Water is also of our fertilizing nature. And this is true concerning the water of life.
[7:24] There are lovely graces of character. And there are lovely graces in the experience of the children of God. The bride, the church of Christ.
[7:38] Who is saying come. And also a satisfying nature. You see if you were found in a desert this evening.
[7:50] And your throat parched without water. Supposing you were surrounded by all the riches in the world. It would be of no way.
[8:02] You replied and you were conscious of your need of a drink of cold water. And because of the situation in which you were found in a desert place.
[8:17] Everything else would be of no other. And consider then what we are feared. The water of life.
[8:29] A satisfied nature. Come the sniffling mwho. To rest the night in a desert place. We are very near deutschen j vezes. We are so much free.
[8:40] Three years they are so much free they are so much free. So not at this point you were afraid when the Vikings go. In the fact you were afraid? Our Calum worshipping FIMF is very near. Christ alone will satisfy us and consider here then this invitation.
[8:55] Come, come, take and freely. And the first word, it denotes faith. If we are to come, it is because faith is an exercise.
[9:12] We have a desire to rest on Christ alone for our salvation. And then there is the exercise of faith.
[9:25] And there is also the terms on which faith receives. That is freely. Now we can come to the Bible and if we come to Christ, we will come to the Bible.
[9:44] It is our desire to come to the word of God if we come to Christ. We can also come to the means of grace.
[9:55] And it will be our desire to come to the means of grace if we come to Christ. We can also come to the throne of grace.
[10:07] And it will be our desire to come to the throne of grace if we come to Christ. But we cannot substitute anything for Christ himself.
[10:22] Now if we are to come to Christ, it implies distance. It implies that we are being made conscious of that distance from the Lord.
[10:37] And it is our desire because of our consciousness of our need to come to the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, what a wonderful invitation we have here this evening.
[10:53] What a wide invitation we have here this evening. And consider us the church of Christ says, concerning the return of the Lord Jesus.
[11:08] Even so come, Lord Jesus. Now we are brought alive to our need when we are our first.
[11:19] Let him that is our first come. Let him that heareth say, come. It is our great privilege to be under the sound of the gospel.
[11:32] Now we know not what a day may bring forth. Or even what a night may bring forth. Now is the accepted time.
[11:46] Now is the day of salvation. You see, this is a process of heart. Give me thy heart.
[11:57] Well, the Spirit of God and the Church of Christ say, come. And let him that heareth say, come.
[12:09] And let him that is our first come. Christ himself inviting so often during the days of his humiliation in this world.
[12:22] How often did our Lord invite? How often did our Lord say, come? We would have no gospel to proclaim unless we were able to invite sinners.
[12:38] This is the heart of the gospel for God so loved the world. That he gave us only begotten son. That those who ever believed in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
[12:55] If we are our first in this way, it is our desire to forsake sin. It is our desire to renounce self.
[13:08] And the Spirit then in the world say, come. The Spirit in mercy say, come. The Spirit in judgments on certain occasions say, come.
[13:22] Consider our God speaking to us in our day. Tragedy in the air. Tragedy on the sea. Tragedy on the land.
[13:34] And are we taking heed to the voice of God in his providence. And are we taking heed to the voice of God in his gospel this evening.
[13:49] How we should realize the gravity of time. You are not always going to be in this situation. Proclaiming the gospel.
[14:00] And don't deceive yourself free. You are not always going to be in that pew. Listening to the sound of the gospel.
[14:12] I was thinking of the gravity of time. Even this afternoon. I went up to hospital to visit. I asked to see a certain person.
[14:23] And was told that certain person had died at one o'clock in the morning. I was too late for that visit. And consider the Christ in our lost eternity.
[14:37] We are under the gospel this evening. And this is a great invitation. Those who are athirst. Those who feel their need.
[14:50] And those who are conscious of their need. And yet there is room. The Spirit of them and the bride say come.
[15:00] The church of Christ in every age. They are saying come to the unconverted. They are saying it at the throne of grace.
[15:13] They are shedding tears in their hearts. Because of those who are without Christ. And without hope in the world. The Lord himself saying come.
[15:26] Well a diversity of results. Under the sound of the gospel. And I wonder. What is through this evening.
[15:37] Even in this house. Consider the blessedness. They are singing. Oh greatly blessed the people are. The joyful sign that knew.
[15:50] There is pardon here. There is holiness here. There is glory here. And the invitation is wide.
[16:02] Whosoever. Whosoever. Some children were discussing. What word in the Bible they liked best. And the small child said.
[16:14] Whosoever. Because it means me. Even if I am small. And consider how the child's mind. Was working.
[16:25] Whosoever. Whosoever. While the bride is the lamb's wife. The church of Christ. And they are saying it. Hearts listening to the unconverted.
[16:39] They are saying come. They remember Andrew and Philip. When they found the saviour. They were also saying come.
[16:50] And we have here opened before us. The last page of the word of God. And we have this wonderful invitation.
[17:02] Water of life. Not a shell. Not a stream. But a well. There is a fountain here. Have we tasted of this fountain.
[17:16] Do we know what it is. To drink with joy. Out of the wells of salvation. Do we thirst after righteousness.
[17:29] Well we know not. What a day may bring forth. And we should ask ourselves. Do I thirst after Christ. This Sabbath evening.
[17:42] Have you got that spiritual thirst. Are you thirsting after happiness. Which does not pertain to this world.
[17:54] What a glorious chapter we have here.
[18:17] Concerning the blessedness of the Church of Christ. Throughout all eternity. And there shall be no more curse. But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it.
[18:32] And his servants shall serve him. And they shall see his face and his name shall be in their foreheads. And consider then the description we have.
[18:43] In this last chapter of the Bible. Of an eternity of bliss. And then the chapter does not close. Without this glorious invitation.
[18:57] What about ourselves then. Let him that heareth say come. Let him that heareth say come.
[19:08] We cannot be neutral as it were. When we are sitting under the gospel. During the days of our Lord's humiliation.
[19:20] When he invited. Come and drink. Come and dine. Come and follow. In every city. There was a division.
[19:31] Because of him. They had different opinions. Who he was. They had different opinions. Of the authority. With which he speak.
[19:44] And so on. And as there are wakings in the heavens. They saw the evening. That there is a division. In this place of worship.
[19:55] And it is because of him. It is because of the question of questions. What we think of Christ. And remember your thoughts.
[20:07] Are very important. Because what you think of Christ. In this world. Is going to determine. Your eternal destiny.
[20:19] Destiny. While the spirit. And the bride. Say come. And my spirit. Shall not always.
[20:29] Strive with man. And perhaps. They are in a state of glory. This Sabbath evening. Who are shedding tears. In their hearts.
[20:41] And giving you. This invitation. Who are not all. Called to the prophet. To proclaim. To proclaim. The unsurgeable riches of Christ.
[20:52] But we have the authority. If we have tasted. Of salvation. To say. To others to come. Come. See a man. Which told us.
[21:03] That ever I did. Is not this the Christ. Well. Let him. That heareth. Say come. Let him. That is a first come.
[21:15] And whosoever will. Let him take. Of the water of life. Freely. Consider. How wide.
[21:26] The invitation is. And consider. The terms. On which we must respond. To the invitation. And receive.
[21:38] Let him take. The water of life. Freely. This involves. Seeking. And this involves. Drinking. And you remember.
[21:50] During the days. Of our Lord's humiliation. When he speak. In this manner. That there were those. Who are saying. This is a hard saying.
[22:02] Who. Can hear it. While. Jesus of Nazareth. Passing by. In the gospel. This evening. This is a faithful.
[22:13] Saint. And worthy. Of all. Acceptation. That Christ. Jesus. Came into the world. To save.
[22:23] Sinners. Have you got. This faith. And. Have you got. This faith. In. Exercise. And you. Are you.
[22:34] Agreeable. To the terms. Of our text. And. Whosoever will. Let him. Take. Of the water. Of life. Fairly.
[22:45] This wonderful. Invitation. Coming forth. Then. At the close. Of this book. And what a privilege. It is. To be under the gospel.
[22:57] Amidst all. The solemn truths. We have. In the chapter. Amidst all. The descriptions. We have. In the chapter. And the chapter.
[23:09] Does not close. Without this. Wonderful invitation. And the spirit. And the ground. So come. The Lamb's wife.
[23:21] The church of Christ. In every age. This is the decide. Of the church. And if there is joy. In the presence.
[23:32] Of the angels. Of God. Over one sinner. Repenting. Soon. There should be joy. In the church. Of Christ. When this. Takes place.
[23:45] I repent. God. This evening. That God. Will accompany. His word. With power. To wound. And.
[23:56] To him. I repent. This evening. That there may be those. In this large congregation. Who will be affersed.
[24:06] In this way. Are you praying. That there are those. Who will experience. A day of God's power. And. To. So ever known.
[24:17] Let him take the water. Of life freely. And only a day. Of God's power. Can do this. And as we speak.
[24:28] To the outward ears. Of men. Women. And children. On the way. To eternity. And so. Paul. So we were crying. And shouting.
[24:40] This invitation. Of the gospel. Till midnight. We know. That only. By being accompanied. By the power. Of God.
[24:51] That it will affect. The hearts. Of men. Women. And children. On the way. To eternity. This is a process. Of the heart.
[25:02] Son. Give me. Thine heart. The preciousness. Of the invitation. The preciousness. Of Christ.
[25:14] Let him. That hear us. They come. Let him. That is our first. Come. And he. So ever will. Whatever. Wrong.
[25:24] For stationing. Life. Whatever age. It doesn't matter. How we have sunk. Into the depths. Of degradation. Of sin.
[25:36] Consider. That our description. Is here. And he. So ever. Let him. Take. Of the water. Of life. Freely.
[25:47] Well have you. Both this. Spiritual. Thirst. Have you. Losing your appetite. To the things. Of the world. Jesus.
[25:57] Of Nazareth. Passing by. In the gospel. And. Do you know. These words. Were ever. In my mind.
[26:08] And in my thoughts. All afternoon. She died. At one in the morning. And what I am saying. To you. This evening friend. If these words.
[26:20] Have been fulfilled. Concerning you. If you have died. In the quietness. Of the night. When many others. Were asleep. What kind of eternity.
[26:34] What. Is awaiting you. Behind. The gates. Of death. While Jesus. Of Nazareth. Passing by. In the gospel. And consider.
[26:46] The blessings. Which we have here. Oh. Greatly. Blessed. The people are. The joyful. Son. That know. In brightness.
[26:56] Of thy face. Oh Lord. They ever. On. Shall go. Consider. Come. Let him.
[27:07] That hear. As they come. Let him. That is our first. Come. And to us. Whoever will. Let him. Take of the water. Of life. Freely.
[27:18] Well. The blessings. Of the gospel. Were presented here. As I said already. Water. Is a necessity. Of life. We cannot.
[27:30] Do without it. There will be no. Privatization. Of this water. The water of life. We hear so much. About our water.
[27:41] During the present day. But how glorious. That we have this. Wide invitation. Regarding the water of life. And the blessings.
[27:52] Of salvation. Absolutely necessary then. Well. Have you experienced. The cleansing. Virtue. Of the water of life.
[28:04] Have you experienced. The fertilizing nature. Of the water of life. And have you seen. The lovely fruit.
[28:16] Which other Christians. They. On their way. To a state of glory. And you seen this. What a satisfying nature.
[28:28] The water of life is. Blessed are they. Who hunger and thirst. After righteousness. For they. Shall be filled.
[28:41] They shall be filled. Will change and decay. In all around. I see. O thou that changest not.
[28:52] Abide with me. Have you said. With another. Just as I am. Without one plea. But that thy blood.
[29:02] Was shed for me. Now as I said already. There's nothing. We can substitute. For Christ himself. We can't come to the Bible.
[29:14] We can't come. To the news of grace. We can't come. To the throne of grace. Do you remember. The Pharisee. How he came. And how his.
[29:27] Prayer was directed. To God. We can't do all that. Without an experimental knowledge. Of the joyful sound. Of the gospel.
[29:38] We are. We can't have an intellectual knowledge. Of all the fundamental doctrines. Of the word of God. Without it affecting our own hearts.
[29:50] And our own experience. We can't have a theoretical knowledge. Because of our upbringing. Without having an experimental knowledge.
[30:01] Of the joyful sound. Of the gospel. So we should examine ourselves. This evening. And ask ourselves. If we have tasted.
[30:14] If we have seen. Who trusts in God. Is blessed. Well. The bride. The church. The lamb's wife.
[30:26] Saint. Come. Addressing those. Who are without Christ. Christian parents. Here this evening. Saying. In their hearts.
[30:37] Come. Concern. In their own families. Concern. In their friends. Saying. Come. Because.
[30:48] There is one thing. Needful. And what a necessity. Then. We have here. Have you realized. Then. Your distance.
[30:59] From Christ. If you are staring. Without Christ. And without hope. In the world. If you are still dead. In trespasses. And in sins.
[31:11] Well. The bread. Of God's love. The invitation. Of the gospel. Extended. To the ends. Of the earth. This evening.
[31:22] And as I said already. How often. The Lord himself. Said. Come. During the days. Of his humiliation. And what about ourselves.
[31:35] Some believe. The things. Which were spoken. And some. Believe not. A diversity. Of results. Under the sound.
[31:45] Of the gospel. Are you near the kingdom. This evening. Friend. It is not sufficient. What if you will draw. Your last breath.
[31:56] Near the kingdom. Without. Without. Being in the kingdom. Are you waiting. For a more. Convenient season. And to his promise.
[32:08] In view. This evening. That a more. Convenient. Season will come. Consider then. How wide. This invitation is.
[32:21] Those who are. Assessed. Those who are in need. And those who feel. Your need. Have you been. Made conscious. Of your great need.
[32:33] Of salvation. There is no need. Like this one. How shall we escape. If we neglect. So great salvation. We are either.
[32:43] Softening. Under the sound. Of the gospel. Or else. We are hardening. Under the sound. Under the gospel. We are either. On the way.
[32:54] To heaven. Or on the way. To an eternity. Of woe. We are either. Being prepared. For an eternity. Of bliss.
[33:05] Or we are. Lightning. For a lost. Eternity. To remember. Another. He made request. For a drop of water.
[33:18] The Lord himself. He drew the curtain aside. And what a solemn drawing aside it was. In the parable.
[33:30] Of the rich man. And Lazarus. And you remember. The request. Of the rich man. Perhaps it was a tongue.
[33:43] That was taking the name. Of the Lord in vain. Perhaps it was a tongue. That was persecuting.
[33:55] The church of Christ. The bride. The lamb's wife. To remember the request. Which he made. In a lost eternity.
[34:08] And all his requests refused. It was too late. The night had come. Wherein. No man can work.
[34:20] The day of opportunity. Was over forever. The door was shut. And a door excludes.
[34:32] And a door admits. And a door divides. And there were those. Who were so near. To remember the parable.
[34:43] Of the wise. And foolish. Virgins. While Jesus of Nazareth. Passeth by. In the gospel this evening.
[34:53] This is a faithful saying. And worthy of all. The Lord. And worthy of all. Acceptation. That Christ Jesus. Came into the world. To save sinners.
[35:05] Do you remember blind Bartimaeus. Nothing was able to silence him. He was experiencing. A day of God's power. He was crying for mercy.
[35:19] He heard that the Lord. Was passing by. And Jesus of Nazareth. Will not always be passing by. In the gospel. In dear experience.
[35:31] You are not always going to be. Under the sound of the gospel. Have you then. Do you forsake sin. Do you remember himself.
[35:43] His Christ. Do you all. And in all. Are you fully satisfied. With the Lord Jesus Christ. As your savior. To whom shall we go.
[35:56] Thou hast the words. Of eternal life. Others may turn their back on the Lord. But Peter was not going. To turn his back.
[36:07] On the Lord. Let him that hear us say come. Let those who are at first. Say come. Those who desire salvation.
[36:17] And yet there is room. Under the sound of the gospel. This evening. As I said already. We would have no gospel to proclaim.
[36:30] Unless we could proclaim. The invitation. Of the gospel. And surely. If we have experienced. The salvation of Christ.
[36:41] Of our soul. If Christ has been made precious. To our own soul. Soon it is our desire. That others should have.
[36:53] The same experience. And we burden tonight. For those who are without Christ. And without hope. In the world.
[37:04] Journying on. In the broad way. That lead us. And to destruction. Are we burdened. For their souls.
[37:15] Well. Yet there is room. The spirit and the bride. Say come. Let him that hear us say come. And let him that is our thirst come.
[37:28] And whosoever will. How we should praise God. That the invitation is not confined. To a certain class.
[37:40] To a certain distinction. To a certain color of skin. To a certain station. Or warmth in this world.
[37:51] How we should praise God. That the invitation of the gospel. Is as wide as this. And please whoever will. Let him take the water of life.
[38:02] Freely. But these are the terms. Remember the Pharisees. They were pleased with their own self-righteousness.
[38:14] And because of this. They did not need the righteousness of Christ. Thanks be unto God. For his unspeakable gift.
[38:27] Well what a glorious gospel. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it is the power of God. And to salvation. And to all those.
[38:40] That believe. While the spirit in providence. Let us take heed. To God's voice in providence. Let us take heed.
[38:51] To God's voice. In his mercies. And let us take heed. To God's voice. In his judgments. And let us take heed.
[39:04] To God's voice. In the sound of the gospel. The last page then. In the bible. How solemn. To come to the last page.
[39:17] Of this book. He which testifies. These things saith. Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so come.
[39:29] Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Be with you all. Amen. Well. Yet there is room then.
[39:41] Under the sound of the gospel. The spirit and the bride. Say. Come. But remember friend. Tonight.
[39:51] Yet there is room. Room in the cemeteries. For us all. Yet there is room. Room in our lost eternity.
[40:03] For those who continue in the world. Without Christ. And without open the world. And rejecting. Rejecting. The message of the gospel.
[40:14] Jesus of Nazareth. Passeth by. In the gospel. Now. Is the accepted time. Now. Is the day of salvation.
[40:26] Beware of the voice. That will come. This night. Thy soul. Shall be required. Of thee.
[40:36] Let us pray. Let us pray. Gracious God. Without thee. We can do nothing.
[40:49] And we remember those who are journeying on. In the broad way. That lead us. Unto destruction. O Lord.
[41:00] Do thou visit them. With thy power. With that day of power. From on high. That they may make a discovery of themselves.
[41:11] And a discovery of thee. Remember thine own children. Who in their hearts this evening.
[41:22] Are saying come. Remember those who are burdened. For the souls of their loved ones. Do thou O Lord.
[41:34] Visit them. And when we know not. What a day may bring forth. Grant us to meet our calling. And election sure.
[41:46] Dismiss us with thy blessing. And bring us safely to our respective places of abode. And abide with us there. And pardon sin for Jesus' sake.
