[0:00] The blood of Jesus Christ's Son, clenched with us from old. It doesn't require a great facility to realize that this very good is full of theology.
[0:12] If one were to deal with it in new sleep, even without having great ability, it would keep one going for a long, long, long time.
[0:23] And it is not only a theological statement, it is also full of experience. One can quite easily talk about the blood of Jesus Christ without having any knowledge at all of its purpose in its own experience.
[0:44] No, John was not guilty of that. When John spoke of the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleansing us from all sins, he was writing profound theology, but he also kept in his head what he was saying.
[1:06] He knew the truth of it in his own experience. The subject then, as we have been considering in our prayer meetings, is fellowship with God and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
[1:22] We have already spoken about those who say that they are fellowship with Him and walk it down. We have spoken of their efforts, how they deceive themselves.
[1:36] No doubt they said that they believed that what they were saying was the truth. Of course they were absolutely deceiving. There is nothing more impossible than to have fellowship with God in one's walk in the night.
[1:56] Then we spoke about what it is to walk in the night, have God in the night. And it is on this condition that we have fellowship with God.
[2:07] Now, in order to have fellowship with God, I should explain, we must, as it were, enter in by the gate of regeneration.
[2:19] And then regenerate them. Cannot have fellowship with God. We must be justified freely by the grace. Only to such is this marvelous privilege to have fellowship with God.
[2:37] And while I believe that everybody who is justified by faith, everybody who is regenerated, everybody who is a Christian, if you care to put it that way, a true Christian, has in some measure fellowship with God, who we also believe, by trying to indicate, that not anyone who is justified, has much fellowship with God.
[3:05] We believe that it is possible for everyone who is justified, who is a true Christian, to go on for a long time, maybe for years, without having conscious fellowship with God.
[3:19] A backslider hasn't any fellowship with God. So, it is necessary not to be a regenerative treatment, adjusted by a Christian, but it is also necessary to have a certain condition of soul, which makes fellowship with God possible.
[3:40] And if we have a sign, we cannot have fellowship with God. For example, every regenerative patient has faith.
[3:51] faith. Faith really never dies. But faith can be very dormant. Faith can be there without it being an exercise. And when faith is not an exercise, we cannot have fellowship with God.
[4:06] It is by faith we have fellowship with God. If we are living in sin, we cannot have fellowship with God.
[4:18] Or in other words, in order to have fellowship with Him, we must be walking in a light, our healing is in a light. Now, every creature knows the reaction from the Lord's true people to a truth like this.
[4:38] They say, well, I am afraid that I have this fellowship with God because I feel I don't walk in the light.
[4:51] I try but I miserably fail. And my soul is in darkness for many a long day. And I blame my dear.
[5:02] It is because I am not walking in the light. Now, there are two ways of looking at that sort of reaction. One is this.
[5:15] What a person says when he says that sort of thing must be quite correct. That might be true. He doesn't make use of the word.
[5:33] Doesn't meditate. And he gets to know it. He is convicted of it to say the word for the ministry. And he hasn't had fellowship with God for a long time.
[5:47] He may be quite right when he says it is my own fault. I don't walk in the light. But there is another way of looking at it.
[5:59] And it is this that the person who says that that type of thing may be quite wrong. For very often those who are walking in the light feel that it is so that they will die.
[6:16] Very often when the Bible calls walking in the light they don't call walking in the light as far as they are concerned. So then very often the Lord would say well now I feel condemned by the statement if we walk in the light because I don't walk in the light.
[6:39] I feel that I am negligent and prayerless and worldly minded and that the world takes hold of me and carries me away and I have much less than that nature that I could talk about you say and this is why I don't have fellowship with God.
[7:02] Now we must remember that the presence of sin in the believers does not prevent his having fellowship with God.
[7:15] Now you try and remember it. I know there are a lot of people who think that they must need to be perfect before they can have this marvellous privilege of fellowship with God.
[7:30] No, that is not the case. And don't expect this of yourself you don't need to. So the presence of sin the existence of sin does not prevent fellowship with God.
[7:46] Everybody with whom God has fellowship in this world is as sinless. There's plenty of sin in everyone. When you come to the end of the grave stage of the past the grave stage of the Bible of David he had fellowship with God Abraham had fellowship with God the prophets yes that they all have sin and plenty of it.
[8:15] That's a little lot of harm. If you think that the presence of sin in you can't prevent your having fellowship with him. And another thing you must remember as well even the activity of sin would not prevent you having fellowship with God.
[8:36] Sin is active for everything but sometimes it is far more active than a devil type. And sin can be very active sometimes as you know on that conduct of your demons it is always active somewhere or other.
[8:53] But however active it can't prevent your having fellowship with God. So remember that. There is only one thing that can prevent your having fellowship with God in this light and that is the love of sin.
[9:17] If you love sin then you cannot have fellowship with God. Sin is present. Sin can be active. You may be struggling against temptation.
[9:29] You may be feeling that you have been carried away with the temptations but if you not that would not prevent you having fellowship with God. in fact one could if one were to go deeply into this if I had more time to go into it one could point though that one has fellowship with Christ even as being tempted.
[9:53] That is part of having fellowship and we have fellowship. Now I think that's why this is up to you at the very beginning of those studies of this fellowship with God that some people think it consists only in having a grand and wonderful feeling being in an ecstasy full of joy and the world becoming like a little heaven.
[10:18] No sin, no sin, no care for the world, nothing like that. Having a marvelous time, having an experience like what the apostles had on the miracle of transfiguration of like what Mary had, what she was sitting at Jesus seat.
[10:35] How marvelous things. Well, this is what some people think is the meaning of the exclusive meaning of herish. So, of course, if we think about we're very powerful truth, they're aware of having herish in this godly life.
[10:51] There's no doubt at all about that. The Lord brings His people into the bank of themselves and they're sick of land. And they're sick of land.
[11:02] Sick with love to Christ. And the world fades away. And the conscience of God loving them and of themselves loving God.
[11:14] And it's a wonderful experience to have. Well, there is fellowship in the assurance of the Christian heart.
[11:27] What the spirit is bearing witness with his spirit that is a child of God. But there are other ways of having fellowship. There is such as any of the fellowship of suffering.
[11:39] And what the suffering of righteousness makes, even if he's not conscious of having any fellowship with God, he has fellowship with death. The same with temptation with God.
[11:56] Well, now, if we give way to sin, we let sin, if we deliberately or willfully indulge with sin, we can't have fellowship with God.
[12:14] This sort of thing brings about a certain moral condition in the soul which may fit, speaking relatively, impossible for God to have fellowship with the person who is in that condition of that time.
[12:28] We just cannot happen. We get examples of this in various places in the Bible. The Lord himself says about his people when he departs from them, that he departs from them.
[12:41] There is a separation made. This is what it means although the relationship between God and his people is never broken. They never seem to be real people.
[12:51] Once they becomes people at all, he never breaks the government to them. But he frowns upon them. He deserts them.
[13:02] He leaves them to themselves and they are not conscious of his presence. And very often for their class he doesn't down to them because of this condition into which they are brought themselves.
[13:14] Now then, what I was really going to talk about tonight was this. We are people full of sin. And in spite of what we do, in spite of our efforts to our fellowship with God, very often we hate.
[13:32] We seem to be more conscious of sin than we are of the presence of God. Very often. Don't you find that this is the way it is there? You say one day well I won't commit the folly of yesterday or the following day.
[13:47] I be a different man and a different woman. And you try. And yet the good that you want you cannot do. It is the evil that you will not that you do.
[14:00] know the point of this takes is that God has made positions for the light of love. And remember that when you say that you always say what every true Christian in the world is saying at one time or another.
[14:16] There's nothing more certain than that. Now then you have here guidance encouragement comfort what we are trying to walk in the night.
[14:31] What we are using the means that God could adopt his course and what do and we say when we get stage for experience polluted when our minds seem to be open to the suggestions of stage can we have help it?
[14:51] Yes if we have pledged from that in the past God has made this provision the blood of Jesus Christ and from all sinners now see the question who's pledged is I'm not going to talk about the theology of all the human but we are together it is all fruitful meaning the blood of Jesus Jesus Christ God Son that's what we spend prayer meeting us prayer to other different meanings of these terms and how they apply in this particular thing is the blood of Jesus Christ what does he mean by the blood well perhaps a lot of people or read read about the blood get a mundane idea to think of the physical blood of
[16:05] Jesus Christ this is the kind of thing that comes into the mind the picture blood physical blood now this is not what it means only this if you hear that some things don't help people with respect of or perhaps the authors have a different meaning the right meaning it is to be feared that sometimes the way in which this term this expression is proved it's not telling people that that is the part of the people that says more than the part of the words it doesn't mean that of course it doesn't mean that there are reasons for that because we know that blood didn't cleanse those who were sprinkled with it while it was being shared there were some people of God he done their hands to them to another part of the body he didn't cleanse them from sin he doesn't either the blood of
[17:10] Christ means the men of Christ atone was all that he did is satisfied the justice of God all that he did are conspires to God the method of his work which is applied to the believer to his heart and his conscience that is the blood of Jesus can I say don't you ever get this idea when you read about blood I hope it does it would be for even idolatry if we ought to be waiting that is the physical blood his physical blood was shed when he was dying so this is what it means the infinite essence that is in him to take out this way now then this is how the state message guidance he tells us what to do when we want it but we long into our fellowship with
[18:21] God and we say oh that I know where I might fight and then I will come to his place but how are you going to come to his place how are you going to fight what you want this is the answer the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses you from all sin and as it cleanses you then you fight you fight this is the answer and it's how wonderful it's how marvelous encourage encourage you don't worry you know how sometimes the more discouragement we become you know how sometimes we may be concluding that we never have fellowship with him anymore time seems so long days without fellowship with him seem like months and we conclude that the good times that we had in the past we never come back to it anymore my friends here is the encouragement of
[19:22] God's word the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin why shouldn't you have finished it is union work going to keep you from all the fellowship with it well if you think that you absolutely wrong that is not faith it is not faith to be looking at your unworthiness instead of looking at the blind if God were to mask your unworthiness against you you would never have fellowship with it remember no friends it is not your unworthiness that keeps fellowship from you at all if you don't have fellowship however you feel yourself to be it is because we don't make use of God's permission and God made his provision the blood was shed in order that you might have fellowship with God this was the reason for which it was shed that you are
[20:24] God may come close together and that you might have fellowship it so then Christ with his great hand he has shed his blood and through him you can come into the holiness of all well now he cleanses us from all sins I confess that there's a little bit of difficulty here in one way we know that he cleanses us from all sins we believe that the difficulty that I have to is the difficulty of our feeling of things and you say well now I see that I have not been cleansed and you say this is my difficulty if I were making use of the blood wouldn't I see myself being cleansed by it I know how we get confused in this matter and even when we know the truth we sometimes seem to give way to the to to unable in this matter it is not what we feel at all it is what the
[21:41] Bible say that we must believe and the Bible says that the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleansed now this does not refer to the initial cleanse to the forgiveness of sin at the beginning this this refers to cleansing the blood of the defiance that we get day by day and earth by earth sin as a defiance and God speaks of taking it away as being a cleansing a washing of sin but we don't feel that and indeed perhaps it would be quite correct to say that when this is actually happening and the blood is cleansing us from all sin we feel that the very opposite is true we feel that we are getting 40 times when we are being cleansed we are given to make more discoveries of our own enlightenment to be more conscious of our own enlightenment the prophet
[22:51] Isaiah puts it in this way he speaks of the mouth of God and he says I the Lord dwell in the Lord I dwell also with a man who is of a poor and of a complex spirit and a temple at my world this is fellowship with God I dwell with God the man that is ever approved and ever comes like out but probably a spirit and contrition of heart is not an easy condition to bear it's a pleasant condition but there is a conceding there is difficulty and when one is being fledged there is no doubt at all but that he makes fresh discoveries of his own needs and it seems that it's getting more and more defined all the time now then what if we have that in him does that mean that we cannot have fellowship with God it means nothing of the kind blessed be
[24:00] God's name for that if we hate it and nobody hated as much as we ought to hate it don't think that we may be fit in that without perfect hate nobody hated it there is some David's thing is that they used to have to go out in spite of what we want in spite of what we do but you know what you hate is well if you hate and your actions are common with God then you are being cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ in the Son and there is one word more sometimes there are certain sins at least in some in the lives of some people that a certain sin that depresses them more than others sins they say well if I didn't have this particular point
[25:25] I would have more hope I think I would lay hold on the promises of the world more readily I think God would be kinder to me now my friends this is a great this is that belief start in belief no the blood of Jesus Christ the Son says the Apostle cleanses us it is they do so cleanses us from all what a good thing that was for Peter he had one sin which I am sure broke his heart which he never got over it always left him ashamed now what would you think of Peter if afterwards would say to himself well now I made many a blunder in my life I said many a foolish thing I acted impetuously many a time and I was far from being passive but still I would hope to have relationship with God if I hadn't denied with all the terms but oh that night that night is going to put a blunder between me and my God and I don't think
[26:38] I will ever get near it anymore
